First, here's a little personal history since it ties in to how and why I make the MIDI.

My father, who came from Reed Springs, Missouri, moved to the south side of Chicago, near the stockyards, where I initially grew up.  I was placed in an orphanage when I was 4 years old and raised there until I graduated from high school at the
age of 18.

I went to college at the University of Illinois in Chicago for a couple of years but finally left because it was hard working and trying to put myself through college at the same time.  I went to night school learning computers.  I eventually got a good job for an electronics company in the computer field.

I have been in computers now for over 30 years.

I moved from the Chicago area to Marietta, Georgia about ten years ago.

I am happily married to my wonderful wife Linda, and have three children.

About my musical background:
I have no musical background at all.  I took a basic course while in college but never pursued any career related to music.

All the MIDI music I create is done by computer.

I enter the notes from sheet music and then massage it with different music software to create the MIDIs.  I can't even read a note of music.

It has become a hobby for me and I enjoy doing it.

I really got started in making MIDI because I could never find the songs I was looking for.

I used to help people by searching for MIDI songs that they could use for their webpages.  That is what finally led me into making the MIDIs myself.

I have only been making MIDIs for the last couple of years.  I'm sure I'll get better as time progresses.

I have a keyboard now and I am thinking about learning to play it.

The software I use is Noteworthy to initially get the notes in and edit the song.  I used to use Noteworthy only to produce the MIDIs (as you can tell by my early works).

I have now gone onto using Band-In-A-Box to make the chords and drums for the MIDIs but I still edit the MIDI afterwards to add some personal touches to the song.

It is tedious work but after working all day on the big mainframe computers I can enjoy the fruits of my work on the PC.  I also use Cakewalk to finish the MIDI off.  It is especially useful for fadeouts at the end of a song and for adjusting the panning for the output to the speakers.

Well, I hope I didn't disappoint you (not being a musician at all).

I just make the MIDIs to help others who enjoy the music as much as I do.

I'm sure there will be a lot more coming soon and the quality will always improve!
